Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben Kenobi, is a fictional character in the universe of the Star Wars movie series, created by George Lucas. He is a Jedi knight and master, an emblematic character in the saga. Until the release of Rogue One in 2016, he was one of the only characters to appear in every film, whether in real life, in the form of a "ghost", or even simply as a cameo in which only his voice is heard.

He is first of all the padawan of Qui-Gon Jinn before becoming himself the instructor of Anakin Skywalker, then to leave him for dead at the end of a terrible fight after the latter chose the dark side of the Force and becomes Darth Vader, black Sith lord, armed arm of the galactic emperor Palpatine or Darth Sidious (Darth Sidious in English). These events are related in the prelogy (episodes I, II and III).

In the original trilogy (episodes IV, V and VI), which relates later events, the old Obi-Wan Kenobi puts Luke Skywalker on the way of the Force before being killed by Darth Vader, but he returns regularly in the form of apparitions to advise Luke Skywalker.

Older Obi-Wan Kenobi is played by Alec Guinness in the original trilogy and younger by Ewan McGregor in the prelogy and the announced series located chronologically between episodes III and IV.
